CENTER, Texas – July 27 – The Lakes Area Art League held a one-day art exhibition and reception honoring LeAnne Rheaume, LAAL scholarship recipient, on Sunday, August 16 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The public wass invited to attend the event and meet the artist at the LAAL Art Center 305 Nacogdoches Street in Center, Texas.
Rheaume, aspiring artist and recent Center High School graduate, showcased her unique art work and techniques at the exhibition. Beginning her art education in California, Rheaume continued her art instruction at Center High School during her junior and senior years assisting with the design development for the Youth Art Month banner project and collaborating with the mural creation for the high school’s Fine Arts Department.
Selected as the LAAL scholarship recipient for 2009, Rheaume also received the 2008 Roughrider Excellence Art Award, Poultry Festival 2008 art awards, the Outstanding Community Service tassel and was the first place winner in the recent Child Services Child Abuse poster contest. During the past two years, she volunteered at the LAAL Resource Learning Library and created the Make Me a Superhero Mini Art Camp held in June 2009.
Rheaume will attend the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in Denver, Colorado in the fall where she plans to pursue a degree as an illustrator in animation. Rheaume is the daughter of Tina Rheaume and Glen Smith of Center, TX.
